Cambodia Smile Dental Project has Treated 1427 Children in 2 Months
The Cambodia Smile project to reduce the prevalence of dental caries in children of the age group of 0-3 years has treated 1427 children in the first 2 months of implementation. The 42 health care workers trained on this project have conducted oral health interventions with the routine vaccination schedule at their respective health districts.
A reduction of caries in the preschool years would mean that children are able to arrive at school with a lower burden of mouth pain and a better ability to learn, grow, and develop. It is expected to treat over 4000 children under this programme.
The Buddhist Library Cambodia Project will bear the cost of the programme in the first 2 years in the Kampot province until it becomes a government intervention. The project is a joint venture of One2One, BLCP, RACHA and Oral Health Bureau of Cambodia.
