Community Development

Children are the nucleus of the local community. Most families in particular the rural community live under challenging conditions where basic needs including shelter, sanitation, water and food are not met. Our Community Development Program undertakes several initiatives to address these problems so that children can lead more comfortable, secure and healthy lives at home.

Family Assist

We identify families who are living in poverty, particularly in Anglungkuki where our Community School is located. For these families facing economic hardship, we distribute emergency supplies including food parcels and other essentials. As part of our assistance package, for families with children, we also distribute toys, books and milk supplies .

Family & Community Education

In order to improve living conditions at home, it is necessary to educate the householders on right behavior, attitude and knowledge in bringing up happy families. We organise local community events and invite target families to attend talks focused on gender awareness, domestic violence and positive parenting. We also educate the parents on the importance of education, the illegality of child labour and underaged marriages. In order to empower families with food security, our events include goal setting, savings and income generating activities which may be undertaken to improve their financial well being.

Community WASH

There is no piped water available in the rural areas and this is compounded by Cambodia having a distinct dry season for several months during the year. This project involves buying large water jars to store clean water for families to use in the household and the construction of latrines which are either non-existent or in very poor state of disrepair.

Child Assist and Health Care

Most families identified do not have enough money to live on and this would have an negative on the health of children and their studies. We provide living allowance for meals and tuition fees for private classes. As nutrition has been lacking, the children may not be healthy. We assisted in sending children for health checkups at the local hospital including followup visits. We make available transportation and cover living expenses during hospitalization where required.
