NGO Support

There are several NGOs in Cambodia that are led by highly committed people but lack funding. They do excellent work which dovetails with our objectives and we collaborate on our activities while learning from each other. We currently provide financial support to local NGOs, namely Kep Gardens and CCAF. BLCP monitors the operations of the NGOs through regular visits while documenting activities and verifying expenditure items.

Kep Gardens

The centre was established as an education and vocational school more than 10 years ago. The school is located less than half an hour from Kampot and not far from the renowned Kep Beach. Kep Gardens is run by a capable Australian couple Janine and Andrew Judd. They are both doing amazing things teaching the children beyond what they would normally learn from attending formal classes in the public school system. The approach through learning at the school is experimental and holistic. Children are also taught local handicraft making from natural materials.

Kep Gardens also provides vocational training for youth with skills which can be used in the construction industry including carpentry plumbing, metal works and other work ready skills to enable young people to quickly gain employment. BLCP has undertaken joint training programs with Kep Gardens to improve  English teaching skills including improving students’ pronunciation and class management for teachers from both organisations.

The team at Kep Gardens led by Janine and Andrew are doing some really wonderful work to educate the children and this has led to continuing growth in the number of students . Janine’s passion and her work speaks volumes of her wish to make the children become caring and responsible people.

CCAF

CCAF or Cambodia Children’s Advocacy Foundation is an organisation established in 2006. It focuses primarily on village based preschool and informal classes for additional coaching to students who are weak in their studies. The supplementary classes are an effective measure in order to minimise the students dropping out from school. Village preschool is also important, not just because it enables early learning for the very young but with the children in school, mothers are able to go to the fields or to do work to gain an income. It also enables the older children of families to attend school instead of being absent from class due to having to help look after their younger siblings. YourAid’s monthly contribution to CCAF helps to fund the salaries of teachers in order for this essential service and the several benefits which are derived to continue.
